The Burwell

I really wanted to like these, but have been disappointed as the click mechanism is inconsistent in both of the pens I’ve received. In each case, the pen will extend when clicked however typically takes 3-5 clicks to allow it to retract. Kudos to James Brand customer service as they sent me a replacement the first time this occurred, but unfortunately it has continued with the second. The overall weight and look of the pen is excellent, but the mechanism appears to need a little work.

I love the build quality of this pen. The click is a little mushy but nothing to Really complain about. The grip knurling is fantastic. The biggest drawback here is the James cartridge. For me it just did not write smoothly at all. Swapped it out for a ballpoint of another brand, and now this one is so, so good.

I ordered this pen in black convinced I would not like it. I was wrong! The only thing I would change about it is make it lighter. It a heavier pen but still comfortable!

I like it. Great color.

Everything I write and draw with this pen feels intentional, and consequential.

Immediately replaced the black cartridge with blue, and bought a 10-pack. I didn't think a pen would really replace my beloved Pentel RSVP, this is the only one I use now.
